The Basic Life Support (BLS) Workshop, held on 21 and 22 December, was a highly informative and practical training program designed to enhance students’ knowledge of emergency care, healthcare safety, and life-saving skills. This two-day workshop focused on three critical areas: Biomedical Waste Management, First Aid Training, and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation). The primary goal was to equip students with essential skills to respond effectively during medical emergencies, both in clinical settings and in everyday life.

During the Biomedical Waste Management session, participants learned about proper segregation, disposal, and handling of biomedical waste. Trainers highlighted the importance of using color-coded bins, adhering to safety protocols, and minimizing infection risks. Students gained practical knowledge about maintaining hygienic healthcare environments and ensuring that medical waste does not harm the community or the environment.

The First Aid Training segment focused on immediate response techniques for common emergencies such as bleeding, burns, fractures, choking, and shock. Students practiced how to assess situations calmly, provide critical support, and stabilize patients until professional help arrives. This hands-on training boosted confidence and emphasized the importance of timely intervention in saving lives.

A major highlight of the workshop was the CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training. Participants learned to perform effective chest compressions, rescue breaths, and other life-saving techniques. Practical demonstrations on mannequins allowed students to apply these skills interactively, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle cardiac emergencies.

Overall, the BLS Workshop held on 21–22 December was an enriching experience that strengthened students’ awareness of healthcare safety, emergency preparedness, and essential life-saving procedures. By gaining practical expertise in biomedical waste management, first aid, and CPR, students are now better equipped to contribute to community health, safety, and overall well-being. This workshop marks a significant step in fostering responsible and capable future healthcare professionals.
