An awareness and community service activity on Blood Group Identification was successfully organized under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) programme on 6 February 2026 at Sithan Village. The primary objective of the programme was to determine the blood groups of the villagers and to create awareness about the importance of knowing one’s blood group, particularly during medical emergencies, surgeries, accidents, and other critical healthcare situations. The initiative was coordinated by Ms. Sweta Gohil, Mrs. Shefali Solanki, and Dr. Nilofar Shaikh from Vidhyadeep Institute of Science, along with active participation from student volunteers.

The programme was systematically planned and executed with the support of faculty members, students, and local health workers. Prior to conducting the tests, villagers were informed about the purpose, benefits, and procedure of blood grouping through direct communication. Emphasis was placed on ensuring informed participation and building trust within the community. Strict hygiene and safety protocols were maintained throughout the activity. Sterile lancets were used for finger pricking, and clean glass slides and standard antisera reagents were utilized to ensure both safety and accuracy in identifying blood groups.

During the activity, small blood samples were collected through finger pricks, and the blood groups were determined using standard agglutination methods with antisera. Each participant was informed about their blood group, and the details were carefully recorded for future medical reference. In addition to testing, awareness sessions were conducted to educate villagers about the significance of blood donation, blood group compatibility, and to clarify common misconceptions related to blood groups.

The response from the villagers was highly encouraging. Many participants, especially elderly individuals and women, learned their blood group for the first time. The event strengthened the connection between the institute and the community, while providing students with practical experience, social responsibility awareness, and direct exposure to grassroots healthcare service. Overall, the activity effectively fulfilled the objectives of the UBA programme by promoting health awareness and community development.
