The programme was organized with the objective of spreading legal literacy and creating awareness about basic legal rights, duties, and remedies among rural citizens, thereby strengthening the connection between legal education and social responsibility.
The programme was carried out by LL.B. students, who actively interacted with the local community and explained important legal concepts in a simple, practical, and accessible manner. The students focused on empowering villagers with knowledge of their Constitutional Rights and the importance of equality before law. They also explained the Right to Education, emphasizing how it supports social development and opportunities for children. In addition, awareness was created about the Right to Information, highlighting how citizens can demand transparency and accountability from public authorities.
The session also covered the role and functioning of Lok Adalat as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism that ensures speedy and affordable justice. Students further explained the availability of Legal Aid Facilities for economically weaker sections, encouraging villagers to approach legal services authorities whenever needed. Special emphasis was laid on Cyber Law and digital safety, considering the increasing use of mobile phones and online platforms in rural areas. Practical examples were given to help villagers understand online fraud, identity theft, and safe internet practices.
To make the programme more engaging and impactful, the students performed a short street play on cyber awareness. The performance creatively depicted common cyber threats and demonstrated preventive measures, making the message easy to understand and memorable for the audience. The target audience included around 50 villagers comprising youth, women, and senior citizens, who participated enthusiastically and asked several questions.
