The visit was designed to bridge the gap between theoretical legal studies and the real-life application of forensic science within the justice system.

A group of students, accompanied by faculty members, was warmly welcomed by the officials of the laboratory. The programme commenced with an introductory session in which forensic experts explained the structure, functions, and significance of forensic science in strengthening the criminal justice process. Students were introduced to various divisions of the laboratory, including Ballistics, Fingerprint Analysis, DNA Profiling, Toxicology, Cyber Forensics, and Questioned Documents. The experts elaborated on how each division contributes to the examination of evidence and assists investigative agencies in establishing facts.

During the visit, students observed demonstrations and practical procedures related to the collection, preservation, and scientific analysis of evidence. The experts explained the process of preparing forensic reports and how such reports are presented before courts as reliable scientific proof. Students learned how forensic evidence supports legal arguments, assists judges in decision-making, and helps ensure fair trials. Information was also provided about career opportunities in forensic science, required qualifications, and the growing importance of interdisciplinary knowledge in modern legal practice.

An interactive question-and-answer session followed, during which students actively participated and clarified their doubts regarding forensic techniques, admissibility of scientific evidence, and the role of expert witnesses in court proceedings. The interaction enhanced their understanding of the close relationship between law and forensic science.

Overall, the visit proved highly informative and enriching. It provided valuable insights into the practical functioning of forensic laboratories, strengthened students’ appreciation for scientific evidence, and motivated them to explore interdisciplinary learning and professional opportunities connected with the evolving criminal justice system.
